THE OREGON ELECTION,
Roosevelt Has 42,S Pluralily
Prolubition Beaten 13,657.
Portland, Nov. 20. OUIeial re
turns from every county except Curry
show the Republican plurality in the
last election to be 42,Hi, and the total
volu in the state ltt),2i;3. This is the
lartfOdt plurality the Republican ticket
ever received anil the heaviest vote
ever cast in a Presidential election in
Oregon except in ISitfJ, when the money
question brought out a total vote of !,
441. That the vote of lliOt was so large
is due chielly to the prohibition issue,
which threw into the campaign a local
interest that could not be aroused by
discussion of National subjects.
One of the noteworthy features of
the returns is the evidence of the
rapid growth of socialism, the vote of
the Socialist party having grown from
1V.H to 11)00, to iiTliJ in 11102, and 7il5
in 1004.
Compared with the vote of four years
ago, the returns show a Republican
gain of 14,000 votes, and a Democratic
losj of 10,000. Comparisons can scarce
ly be made with the vote of 18'Jfi, for In
that year the opposition to the Repub
lican party was represented by a fu
sion organization in which the strength
of the Democratic party could not be
cry accurately estimated.
; Id 13 counties in which there was a
vote on prohibition, there were cast
2U,24j votes for and 42,1)02 against,
showing a majority of l;i,57 against
prohibition Prohibition carried in
six countieB, two In the Willamette
Valley, Benton and Yamhill, one in
Eastern Orogon, Gilliam and three on
the coast, Tillamook, Coos and Curry.
faith and Pact,
Faith is one thing and fact is another,
it sometimes takes any amount of faith
to produce one fact. Years of earnest
work and faith have produced one fact
about medicine that is deserving of
mention here. If people who are troub
led with general weakness through
overwork, dissipation or exposure can
get a remedy that will make rich, red
blood from the food they eat, their re
turn to health is assured. Good blood
is the life of the body as well as the
nerves. AVeak, sickly, pale people
who sutler with indigestion, dysiwpsia,
Bick-headache, loss of strength and
ambition, having dlzzj spells and. at
ways tired, can be cured sound and
well with Dr. Gunn's Blood and Nerve
Tonic. Sold by druggists for 75c. per
box, or 3 boxes for $2. This tonic acts
in a common sense way, curing disease
by giving strength to resist it- For

the ills of life. This medicine is called
