117,000 acres of Coos County timber. It
is desired to get the lumber hack over
the belt line and over a railroad to the
Kastern market. To this purpose no:h

Koseburg. Lumber at Koseburg is
worth even less than His on Coos Bay

Koseburg must lead to the building of
a transcontinental line to the Kast.
It Is expected that work on tho belt

Woman Burns to Death.
La GitAXDK, Or., Oct. 25. Mrs. John."-
Krow died last evening as a result of a
terrible accident a few miles from La
Grande yesterday. Whilueooking feed
for tho stock her apron caught tiro in
soiuo way and thu Humes rapidly spread
over the rest of her clothing. She ran
to the home of a neighbor close by,
where a woman smothered the Humes
us best she could, but not before Mrs.
Ivrow was fatally burned about the
body. She was a woman of middle age
and leaves a familv.

grand jury this morning before recess

What disposition the grand jury will
make of tho case wherein Albert Iluf

stock, who was charged with embez
zling about $(i00 of postal funds, is not
known. The case Is exactly similar to
tho Ki utor caso, and when the investi
gation by tho grand jury was completed
no rcjmrt of tho case was made.
John W. Gardnor and William II.
McCrosscn pleaded guilty to the In
dictment returned against them by the
grand jury, charging them with con
spiracy to commit an olTcnso against
