Workmen have completed the con struction of a tish ladder at the mill dam, and salmon will have no difficulty hereafter in passiog up stream. It might be as well here to add that an effort will be made to compel the con struction of a similar ladder at the damat Elkton this fall, for if the sal mon are stopped from ascending Elk creek at that point, there will be none ' in Elk, Billy or Pass creeks this season or any other. Mr. Mclvillop is circulating a peti tion for a road 40 feet in width from Keliher to Drain, and is meeting with success in securing signatures to the names. Mr. Charles Hewitt and wife, Miss Ester Thornton and Mr. D. Springer took a Hying trip to Roseburg Satur day afternoon returning home yester day.
