Mrs. Alfaratta Kruse. wife of G. W. Kruse, the well-known groceryruan, of '.lusuburK, died at her home In this city early Sunday afternoon, Sept. 18, 1U04, of uraemlc spasms, accompanying an impending accouchement. She was M years of age. Previous to the day of her death Mrs. Kruse had been in her usual health. Sunday morning she was attacked with spasms and physi cians were summoned. Shortly after noon the child a girl was safely deliv ered. Twenty-hve minutes later, Mrs. Kruse was seized with another spasm and expired. Despite the adverse con ditions of birth, the child is apparently healthy aud thriving. Mrs. Kruse was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John U. Kennedy, of this city. Besides her parents and husband she leaves seven children three sons and four daughters to mourn her loss. A fifth daughter died a few years ago. Mrs. Kruse is also survived by two brothers and a sister: Vade Kennedy, an S. P. brakeman, of this city; Jas. Kennedy, a farmer, living near Wil liams, Josephine county, and Miss Lu ella Kennedy, of Portland. Miss Ken nedy arrived from Portland this morn ing. Mrs. Kruse was a member of Lilac Circle, No. 49, Women of Woodcraft, and of the Christian church, from where the funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with services con ducted by Rev. Geo. C. Ritchey; inter ment will occur in the Masonic ceme tery. Mrs. Kruse was a very estimable lady and highly respected by all who knew her. One of the few railroad companies that owns and operates the sleeping cars in service on its lines, is the Chi cago, Millwaukee & St. Paul. Tho sleeping cars on this line were ormcrly Pullman cars, operated bv the ' Pullman Company, but for a dozen years past the railway company has owned and operated the sleeping car equipment. In building Its sleeping cars, a defiarture from the old standard pattern of cars has been made to the ex tent of adding about six inches to the width and height of the sleepers. This permits of wider and higher berths. Length has also been added to berths, so that comfort is found in them which is lacking in ordinary sleeping cars.
