ELECTRIC RAILWAY SYSTEM May be Inaugurated in Tbcse and Several Willamette Valley Counties Soon. A party consisting of Congressman J. F. Wilson, of Arizona; W. J. WUsey and J. M. Eddy, capitalists, also of Arizona, and Henry Diers, acting as guide, arrived here last night from Coos Bay and left this morning for Eugene. The first named gentleman is president of the Willamette Valley Electric Company, an incorporation which has for its announced object. the construction of electric railway lines between various points in the Willamette Valley. Messrs. WUsey and Eddy are associates of Mr, Wilson in tho project. The arrival of the party in Hoseburg was the conclusion of a trip from Eugene made by way of Florence and Coos Bay and for the purpose of becoming thoroughly ac quainted with the resources of the sec tion traversed with a view to widening the ecope of their project to include Coos county and the Umpqua Valley. As none of the party would consent to an interview, nothing could be learned as to the effect of the trip cn their plans. That their faith in the proposition was strengthened may be inferred, however, from a statement made by Mr. Wilson, who said that he had been over the rail road through Western Oregon several tttnos, but not until he took this trip into the interior did he realize the vast amount of re sources that lay at hand awaiting de velopment. Something more concern ing the observations of Mr. Wilson may be learned from the following in the Eugene Guard, communicated by its Florence correspondent: Colonel Wilson was interested In the Siuslaw harbor, and wonders why con gress has not done more for its im provement. He was shown statistics on -the shipping business of the harbor for the year 1103, and was amazed at its extent. The people here may here after count upon the Colonel as a staunch friend of the harbor, and be will no doubt use his in Hue nee in con gress to secure an appropriation for the completion of the jetty at the mouth of the river to deepen the water over the bar so that the largest of the coasting vessels can enter the harbor. Colonel Wilson and party did not come over the proposed route of the electric railway, nor was this trip mode for the purpose of viewing out any route. Sakharoff has sent a report of yester day's heavy battle at Llao Yang, giv ing the following details: The conflict lasted from Ave o'clock In the morning until nine at night. States i ioko, Ga., Aug. 30 Sebas tian Mcltride, a negro, living near Portal, in the upper part of Bullock: County, was taken out of his house Saturday nitiht by a mob of five men, carried to the woods, whipped soverely and then shot, from the effects of which he died soon afterward. Before death came, however, he re lated to the Sheriff the manner in which he was handled, and told the names of three of Ills assailants.
