Robt. Hunter, son of D. W. Hunter,

Philomath, Benton County, to accept a

The government geodetic survey,
which has been in progress between
Sao Francisco and Portland for the past
several months, is to be completed at
Roseburg. Arrangements to that end
are now being made. The site chosen
for the final work is a knoll on Mt. Nu
bo, tn West Roseburg. Some men are
now engaged in establishing a triangu
lation station there, and in a few days a
party of surveyors will arrive to per
form the scientific portion of the work.
The greatest problem presented in
A Runaway Match," which is to be
presented at the opera house on Thurs
day, Aug. 18, Is how to keep from
laughing every minute that the curtain
is up. Problems of this character are
a very acceptable variation to the usual
run of plays which seem to be advised
solely for the purpose of filling in an
evening. "A Runaway Match" wufde-
signed to cause laughter and it has not
failed to meet every requirement of the

ty, Calif , Oct. 15, Win, and leaves a

Up till three weeks afro, when lie
went to San Francisco for treatment,
Mr. Amhrum bad been n continuous
resident of Roseburg for twenty years,
following his trade as a wayon maker.
He was a native of Germany and un
married. He was a quiet, Industrious
citizen and highly rcsected by all who
knew him. Mr. Ambrum owned a
place of 24 acres in Riverside Addition
to this city, which includes the hill
where the two laree water reservoirs
are located. The place Is rented ai.d
occupied by Johu Sieber.
Mr. Ambrum is survived by two sis
ters la Michigan, another sister and a
nephew in Germany and a niece in San
Francisco. The latter will make ar
rangements for the funeral which will
bs held in Han Francisco today.
