There is quite a local demand for timber, that will grow as Boon as It is found that the demand can be supplied, and as there is ample room on the upper Boor of the mill for a planer, It is very probable one will be installed at an early date. Mr. W. J. Kelleher paid us a business visit Tuesday on the deck of the frisky broncho. He drove home to his farm near Roseburg, two fine cows and a calf that he had bad taken care of at this place. Oakland, Cat The hardest worked man on Billy 1 creek at this writing Is Mr. W. H. Sykes. Between the mill, the timber, the flume and other business he has hardly a moment of leisure. In order to further protect the mill from fire, another large water tank is to be put up, and workmen are en gaged preparing the materials for its erection. Tbis will make available when it is completed, about 10,000 gal lons of water with a pressure of over 150 feet almost precipitous fall. The mill, with a few minor exceptions is completed, and stands today the largest uprdato saw mill in Southern Oregon, a very valuable piece of property to its owners, a source of extreme satisfaction to the general superintendent in charge, Mr. W. H. Sykes, and a high testimonial to the skill and experience of the builder, Mr. A. E. Shtria. It is suggested that The Review would do a favor to many of Its pitvons were it to publish a synopsis of the laws concerning the starting of forest fires and the penalties attached thereto. The open season for deer stalking is near at hand, and the woods will soon be alive with thoughtless hunters.
