Tonight.
Thy famous Dixie Carnival Company,
which opens this evening, a week's en
jjutfemont under the iiusjiieesj of the
Muecabees, arrived yesterday after
noon on a special train loaded down
with everything under the &un to
amuse the people of Koseburg. From
all appearance the Street Fair and
Carnival will be a grand success and
one of the largest celebrations of the
year.
The di lie rent cominitteuSj.have been
working hard for a number of weeks
and will do everything in their power
to entertain and give the people the
worth of their money. Every citizen
in our city should turn out and help
the Maccabees in their effort for success.
The Dixie Carnival Company haB the
reputation of being one of the best
Carnival Companies traveling and
conies well rocommended by both press
and public. Every city this company
has exhibited in, the city ollicialshave
only words of praise for them.
Its attractions are all strictly moral
and all persons connected with the
aggregation are ladies and gentleman
in every respect.
All day long it has been a busy scene
on the streets where the Carnival is to
appear, men by the score pitching up
tents, driving stakes, then with the
hammer or saw getting things into
shape for tho Carnival. The st routs
near the depot where the Carnival Is to
exhibit, is one big city of tents.
The Carnival will open this evening j
at seven o'clock, with a big free band i

There are nine big shows on the mid-1
way, every one strictly moral, clean
and up to the minute.
"The Electric Theater," has four
distinct shows under its tents for one
price of admission. "TheStatue Turn
ing to Life," "Alma, queen of all lire
duncers," "Zondalla, in picture and
Hmver dances," and a special product
ion of the eruption of Mt. I 'elee.
"Samson," the largest, snake on ex
hibition, is 'St feet in length, weighs
over ItoO pounds and is forty-nine years
of ape.
."Luna," the Artist's model, is direct
from Paris, anpears in a series of X)scs
p'.astiijUb. Tiojccticope pictures of
the "Life of the American Firemen,"
"A Cambler's Crime" and "The
Electrocution of Czolgosz."
" Dixie vi lie," where is men ten
colored artists from the "Sunny South,"
featuring Joe Dokes, the man that
made the mule laugh.
"Tho Ornamental Class blowers,"
make everything you can think of out
of the brittle stuff. Every article
made by the glass blowers is given to
visitors.
The Swiss Village is a marvel of
mechanical ingenuity. Tho maker
spent over two years in building the
contrivances, which shows over 800
people engaged in all kinds of occupa
tions. The Laughing Gallery is the place to
drive away tho blues. "Kasau," the
snaker eater, eats them alive. "You
have got to hurry."
"No Name," and alive, the Malay
wonder, a sight of a life time.
"OetotT tbe earth," take a ride on
the Ferris wheel.

near Cleveland today. Haying is in
progress there, the crop being general
ly good.
The people living eatt of town are
still anxiously awaiting some definite
action by the city authorities in regard
to repairs on that part of Douglas
street leading over the hill. That
street was almost impassable last
winter and demands some definite
action In tbe way of repairs. I
C. P. Barnard Is now running stages
both to Marsh field and Myrtle Point
via Dora. He reports the road In the
best condition he has ever seen It at
this time of the year. He has spent a
large sum of money on the road and
the county authorities in both Coos
