Hull was placed under arrest late last night in connection with the finding of an infant's body In a stove. The case has aroused much interest in the city because of the prominent standing of the physiciao. Hull has little to say regarding his arrest, averring that the officers will release him when the facts of the cafe become known. According to the story told by the oflicers, the physician entered the kitchen of the Delmonico restaurant last evening carrying a bundle which he wanted to put into the fire. As the doctor, upon several occasions before, had put bundles into the fire, the cook thought nothing of the request and granted it. "Death to unionism in the Cripple Creek district" is the now slogan of the Citizens' Alliance which has sent a de cree broadcast that every person con nected with any union hiro must cither sovcr. his or her connection with such organization or leave the district. No parson who works for a living will be exempt, and the absolute anni hilation of unionism tn this county is predicted by members of the Citizens' , Alliance and the Mineowners Associa tion. ! This is considered the most drastic step yet taken by the Alliance since ft secured the upper hold in the district, j and its enforcement will affect 3000 men and women now alliliatcd with the va- ! rious unions. Among the unions that ; will be a (Tec ted by the new movement are the clerks, conks and waiters, bar tenders, carpenters, electricians, train" men and stone and brick masons. I The unionists assert they will fight the movement to a finish. I Vixtok, Colo., June 8. A pitched battle between the military and union miners was fought at Dunville, the new ' mining camp, lit miles from Victor, this afternoon. John Carley, a union miner, was kilied. The troops returucd to Victor tonight bringing with them 14 captives, which they placed In the buil pen. A second battle took place at Big Bull Hill, two miles east of Victor. Seven soldiers sent on horseback to ar ' rest union miners found them en . trenched. The men refused to sur render and the soldiers opened fire. Over 200 shots were fired. No one was wounded. Seven men were captured by the guards and taken to Cripple Creek. No definite clew to the perpetrators of the outrage at Independence has de veloped. The deported union men who were brought to thlscity are being cared for by their brethren of the West ern Federation of Miners and will, ac cording to programme, remain here at least for the present.
