Sine Others Injured, Some Fatally, So Clew to Identity oi Assassins. Cripple Crekk, Colo, June 6. One of the most diabolical deeds in the black record of crime which forms part of the mining history of this state was committed when, by means of an'infer nal machine, 11 men were killed out right aud nine others terribly injured, some of them fatally, at Independence, early today. All those killed and in jured were nonunion miners, employed on the night shift of the Findley mine. The men had quit work and wore wait ing for the suburban train on the Flor ence & Cripple Creek railroad to take them to their homes in Cripple Creek and Victor. When the locomotive was within one hundred feet of the depot, a charge of dynamite, estimated at 300 pounds, was sot off underneath the platform on which the men wero stand ing by pulling a wire from the Delmon- ico mine 400 feet away. The result was terrible. Heads, haods, legs, arms and the trunks of the bodies of the men were scattered all around. Blood eov ered everything. The depot platform was split in two and the front of the depot was demolished. The injured wore taken to the Victor hospitals, and the mangled bodies of the dead, ptuhedaoxether as well us possible, wero removed to the Coro ner's otlice at Victor. That the diabolical crime was care- liberating Messrs Perdicarisand Varley are not shared and are not confirmed at the Spanish Krnbassey here. Nor has Ambassador Choate beard anything of the exchange of notes mentioned by La Correspond e no i a Kspanla. The Spanish government appears to be acting In perfect harmony with Great Britian and the United States, and no apprehension is expressed in Spanish olliuial circles that the United States has any designs except to assure the safety of Mr. Perdicaris and Amer ican citizens. JUDGE HAMILTON ELECTED (Mow Defeats Marstcrs Aflec Elect ed Clerk McClallcn For Sheriff. Results of the election .held in Doug las county on Monday, June 6, 1004, are mixed and show a wide divergence uf the indiyidual voters from political party lines. Perhaps the largest vote on the democratic ticket was that cast for Judge J. W. Hamilton, who carries this county by over 800 majority. He also carried Coos, Curry and Lane counties the latter by between 100 and 200 majority. Eugene, the home of his opponent, gave Judge Hamilton a majority of 1.1 votes, and he carried Koseburg by a vote of 714 to 300 for bis opponent. Lincoln and Denton conn' ties are not yet reported, but Judge Hamilton is no doubt elected by a mar gin of 1200 to 1500 votos. For joint senator, Hon. R. A. Booth rep., carries this county by fully 600 and is elected by a margin of at least 1200. For state senator, O. P. This was one of the hardest fought battles in the contest at this election, and one in which the demo crats and independent republicans made common cause against Senator Marstcrs.
