A Returned Klondiker is Arrested as
A Burglar.
Skattle, April 21. Thomas Thorn
ton returned from Alaska after an
absence of three years to find himself
an Knoch Arden. His wife, thinking
him dead because of his long absence,
procured a divorce, married Joseph
Allenby and caused the arrest of her
former husband as a burglar when he
entered his old homo.
On Thornton's arrival from the north
about April 1, with a pile of gold which
he had collected in his stay on Alaskan
creeks, separated far from the larger
settlements, he boarded a car and
hurried to his old Beacon Hill resi
dence, where he expected to meet a
glad reception and overjoy as be was
received into the bosom of hia family.
His wife, however, received him.
without enthusiasm and sprang the
news of her marriage without any dis
play of sentiment or remembrance of
the love of the past.
