James, of Minneapolis, and brother, D. E. Stevens, and sister, Mrs. M. E. Cogan, and the 1 titter's two children, of Sioux City, Iowa, arrived here last week to visit with their mother, Mrs. F. Stevens, and sisters, Miss Queenie Stevens and Mrs. G. E. Mllllngton. Mrs. Cogan and children may remain here. A. A. Fuller special representative of the Mutual Life of New York, has been notified from the Home office, that be Is one of the four winners in this state for a free trip to the St. Louis Fair, the company paying all expenses. Arrangements are being made to put up the line right away and make It a part of the Roseburg system or ex change. It Is hoped to have the new Hoe ready for operation by May 1st. Another mass meeting will be held at the store at Dixonville, Thursday after noon, April 7th, to push the matter along. In keeping with Its annual cu3tom for the past four years, Julia Abraham Cabin No. 5, Native Daughters of Ore gon, will give a May day ball in Rose burg. As the first of May falls on Sun day, the ball will be given either on the 2nd or 3d, and in the Armory. The music will be furnished by the Rose burg Orchestra. No supper will be served by the lodge, but other arrange ments for this feature will be provided.
