Hunter was visiting at Mr. Knovrel's Wednesday. Chas. and J. R. Wilson were In Dix onville a week ago looking for a loca tion. They recently sold their farms in Camas Valley. Mrs. E. Hattleld lost about a hundred dollars worth of tickets on the C. I. K. store, recently. Robert Hatfield has postponed going to school till fall, and will break horses this summer. Miss Violet Brown is at Looking Glass asslsiting her sister, Mrs. Ella Taylor, in caring for her children, who have the whooping cough. Mrs. John Cockelrease is at Oregon City attending her daughter who is III. The leading social event of the sea .son was the party given by Mrs. E. Hat field Wednesday at her home in Dixon ville. She was assisted In receiving by her daughter, Miss Bessie Hatfield, and Miss Mabel Hunter. The house was tastefully decorated, the predominating color boing violet. Dixon for a meeting for the purpose of securing a telephone line to Roseburg, large number came out. The whole vicinity was represented, and peoplo generally are enthusiastiu over the matter. A committee consisting of L. H. Sinick, W. H. Brown and A. B. C. Whipple was appointed to draw up the subscription paor and to attend to other matters concerning the same. Another meeting will be held in about iwo weeks, to which everybody is cord ially invited, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Duncan's chil dren have been vory Btek with whooping cough but are on the road to recovory.
