Ralph Prebble leaves Saturday morn ing for Grants Pass to take a position in Clark's bakery. Mr. Prebble is an experienced baker and patrons are as sured of good service. Salem Statesman: Miss Kate Bulck, of Roseburg, is in the city visiting at the home of Mrs. R. B.Houston C. A. Sehlbrede, of Roseburg, came up from Portland last night to visit his wife, who is spending a month with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Downing. They expect to make their home in Portland in the future. . A. J. Gross, a resident of Green val ley, five miles northwest of Oakland, fell from the S. P. R R. trestle, about three-fourths of a mile north of Rose burg Thursday, afternoon, in bis excit ed haste to get out of the way of a light engine, which was coming towards him. At the place where Mr. Gross fell, the trestle is about 26 feet high. Fortunately be sustained no broken bones, but was hurt internally, though it Is believed not seriously. When picked up, Mr. Gross was unconscious, but he revived while being taken to the county hospital. This mroning be was placed on board the northbound local train and taken to Wilbur, from where he will ba conveyed to his V" "5, ' ery.
