Chas. Hart, singing evangelist, who
has been assisting Rev. S. A. Douglas
in conducting revival meetings at the
BaptiBt church in Roseburg for the two
weeks ending last night, returned
home, to Eugene today. The meetings
were very successful, quite a number of
conversions having been made.
Two good attractions and three per
formances are the offerings at the
Roseburg opera house this week. On
Thursday night the Fisk Jubilee
Singers will give one of their famous
concerts that have pleased both Europe
and America. On Saturday the Geor
gia Minstrels will give a matinee at
2:30 in the afternoon, so that the chil
dren can see this wonderful perfor
mance. The farmers and their fami
lies may also avail themselves of this
opportunity to see a good show. In
the evening the Minstrels will give
their regular performance. Matinee
prices, children 25 cents, adults 50
cents. Evening prices, lower floor, 50
and 75 cents; gallery, 25 and 35 cents.
Rev. S. A. Douglas, of the Baptist
church, next Sunday closes a pastorate
of nearly six years in Roieburg. With
his family be will leave Monday even
ing for San Francisco to visit for a
week with relatives, after which they
will proceed to Oxnard, Southern Cali
fornia, where Mr. Douglas has accepted
a call. Rev. Douglas' successor here
has not yet been announced. The de
parture of Rev. Douglas and bis est!
mable wife from Roseburg will be re
gretted by their many friends, their
popularity extending far beyond the
circle of their coadhcrents to the
: church. Rev. Douglas has officiated at
many social and public functions hore
and his absence from these occasions In
the future, as well as from the church,
will be especially felt.
