A meeting of that portion of the members of the Umpqua Valley Prune Association who have their fruit In their packing House here was held in Rose- uuru iwib Diuiuru&y ior me purpose 01 devising plans whereby more active markets in the east for the Oregon product could be created. There is very little demand for Oregon prunes in eastern markets just now. In places wbere the demand was very great lost season, there is little or no call for them at the present time. This is not due to any inferiority in quality but to the preference created for California prunes by judicious advertising and extensive canvassing. It was decided at the meeting Saturday to formulate general plans for advertising the Ore gon prunes and to send canvassers east to stimulate the demand for them In the markets. These plans will be definitely outlined and the appoint- ments of canvassers made at a meeting of thedirectorsof the association uext Saturday. This association will act in conjunction with the Willamette Val ley Association, which decided upon similar plans several days ago and which is connected with the local or ganization by reason of. holding stock therein.
