Johnson, the saw mill man, a few days ago and that he sustained some severe bruises. Mr. Weaver says a few cars of prunes are yet to be Bhipped from Myrtle Creek, the market conditions being very quiet at present. Prof. McEwen, the sleight-of-hand performer and hypnotist, made his Ini tial appearance of the week at the Roseburg theatre last night to "stand ing room only." The entertainment was a first-class one of Its character, Prof. McEwen giving genuine proof t f his ability, especially as a hypnotist, although this part of his performance was cut unusually short owing to the loss of time In getting "subjects" from the audience. Unlike other hypnotists who have appeared here, I'rof. Mc Ewen selects no boys for "subjects," but persons of matured intelligence. No doubt he will continue to be greeted with crowded houses during his stay here. He is worth seeing.
