the prisoners who escaped from the
California state prison at Folsom
several months ago have been located
in Ouaymas, Mexico. They are said to
be heavily armed and have plenty of

Two Years.
An important feature of the present
session of the Circuit court occurred
Monday afternoon when Berb Bice,
charged jointly with his yoUDger
brother, Harvey, on two separate in
dictments for horse stealing, entered a
plea of guilty. He was sentenced this
morning b; Judge Hamilton to six
years imprisonment in the penitentiary.
Only last August did Bert Bice com
plete a two years term in the peniten
tiary for a crime exactly similar to
that for which he la now to serve three
times as long. Harvey Bice was ar
raigned at the same time as bis brother
and plead not guilty. This morning he
withdrew the plea and entered another
of guilty. He will be sentenced to
morrow morning at ten o'clock. Har
vey was an inmate of the state reform
school at the time Bert was released
from the state prison. Harvey was
soon after Induced by his older brother
to desert the school and together they
made their way south to their home In
Douglas County by riding horses which
they stole. Harvey's arrest at his home
near Kiddle, and Bert's subsequent
capture by a storekeeper at Merlin,
Josephine county, are familiar to our
readers. Two younger Biee boys onto remain.

I timber land business and who keeps
posted on the affairs and movements of
the Booth-Kelly Lumber Company,
that the timber cruisers which the com
pany has In the western part of Lane
county, as chronicled by that paper
the other day, are at work not only to
estimate the amount of timber In cer-
tain tract in the Coast Range, but to

Armstrong Will Hang.
Salem, Or., Jan. 18. Chief Justice
Moore, of the Supremo Court, has re
fused to grant a stay of execution In
the Pleasant Armstrong murder case.
Armstrong is condemned to hang next
Friday. He took an appeal to the
J Supreme Court, and, pending the hoar-
injj, asked for a certificate of probable
cause for apieal, In order that the exe
cution might be stayed.

Rev. Kennedy Acquitted.
HiLLSiioito, Or., Jan. 17. Rev
Richard H. Kennedy, the Congrega
tional minister; has been acquitted of
the charge of having entered the
bouse of E, H. Warren, a Blight dis
tance east of Hillsboro, on the early ,
morning of September 1, and commit-;
ting a burglary. The jury was out
until about 4:30 this morning, when,
they agreed, and signed a sealed ver
dict. This case has attracted wider
attention, two women who saw the bur
glary having Identified Kennedy as the
man. He swore that he was In Port
land on the night of the burglary.

The Oldest Inhabitant.
Mrs. Mary Wood, born In East Ten
nessee, May 20, 1787, Is living in Hills
boro, Orogon, at the age of over INS
years, hale and hearty, an unimpeach
able witness to the healthfulness of
Washington county, to which she came
in 1853, then ah old woman. Her baby
daughter, Mrs. Reynolds, aged 71), and
herself, reside with their daughter
and granddaughter, Mrs. Fred Olsen,

Obituary,
Mr. Daniel Huntley died In Portland
.Ian. i:t, 1IH4, and was buried in the
Willis Creek cemetery, near Dlllard,
Oregon, Jan. irth. 111b age was 28
years, 8 months ana 12 days.
Six brothers and two sisters survive
him, as follows: Hyman Uuntloy, of
Kucklos, Henry and William of Port
land, Kred, Jas. and Mike Huntley, and
Mrs. V. II. Smith, Willis Crock, and
Mrs. Mary Smith, of Canyonville.
The funeral service was conducted by
Uev. Wm. Thornton, or Dillard.
He was a noble young man, ixissessed
of good moral habits of life, and was
universally esteemed by all who were
acquainted with him. IK.
