This specialist has tabulated the rec

that, they do not develop as well. In

A Itemed y For Snake Dlte.
There Is a most remarkable account
of the exploring trip of an orchid hunt
er named Andre through an unknown
part of Venezuela. The party met
with terrible hardships and privation,
and only about half of them got hack
to clv!ll?.atlnn. They were in continual
danger from snakes, and the native
remedies, the only ones at hand, were
severe ones. One day Mateo Ramirez,
one of the men walking through t9
Jungle, was bitten Just above the ankle
by a snake. Andre suspected that tho
bite was not poisonous, but Mateo was
In mortal terror and allowed his friends
to subject him to a remedy worse than
the disease. Throwing him to the
gi'ound. they wound a strong creeper
mound his thigh until It cut Into the
flesh and then burned the wound with
a live coal until the patient shrieked
in agony. Chewed tobacco and crushed
garlic were afterward rubbed In and
tho wound Imnnd up. The snake bite
was cured, hut the poor victim suffered
for many days front the remedy. Les

The Poor C'hlneae Wife.
A Chinese wife is not exactly to be
envied, for she Is under the authority
not merely of her husband, but also of
his mother. A book on Chinese eti
quette gives rules which show pretty
clearly how utterly subject a woman
is to her mother-in-law. Here are a
few of them: "When your mother-in
law sit. you should stand. Obey her
orders quickly. Rise early In the mom.
Ing and open the doors quietly, taking
cam to make no noise to waken her.
Hasten to prepare her toilet articles;
retire and prepare for tea. Take It to
her quickly and cheerfully, anil then
arrance the breakfast table, l'lace the
chopsticks straight, boll tho rice soft,
and let the meal U thoroughly done.
Prepare the meals thus carefully thrice
dally. When darkness comes and your
great one desires to sleep, spread the
bed. when she may iencefny rest and
you may retire to ymir room."

was Induced to address there the elect

Accrington. If yon are so backward In
coming forward, we shall all be iM'hlnd

and effectiveness was the sermon of
I'ean Swift's, which, taking as Its text.
"He that glveth to the poor lendeth to
the Lord." began nud ended thus:
"Itrethren. If you like the security

A Natural Bitiall,
It Is s very reasonable thing to suppose
it tne foundation of a structure was re
moved that the building itself is bound
to come down. This same principle
can oe applied to disease. Take a medi
cine Into the system that will remove
the cause of sickness and the Illness
leaves of Itself. Dyspepsia, Indigestion,
sick-headache and billiousness have
their foundation In stomach disorders.
Remove this weakness and the other
symptoms are no more. There Is one
cure for this that all druggists sell for
2.) cents per box. It Is called Dr. (innn's
Improved Liver Pills. They get right
auiio oeginning oi tnese diseases and
make the cure by taking awav the
