OIL WELL TO RESUME
He Umpqua Valley Oil Co. to Again
Begin Doing Business.
Arrangements have been made by tho
officers of the Umpqua Valley Oil Co.
whereby a well is to be completed to
the depth of 2000 feet under a guarantee
that if not completed to said deptli the
contract becomes void, as no money is
to be paid until the contract is com
pleted. H. J. Wilklns, superintendent
of the company, is now selling stock at
10 cents per share under the guarantee
thut if the well is not completed to the
depth of 2000 feot, or oil found at a less
dopth, all money paid for stock shall be
rofunded to the purchaser. Mr. Wil
klns is mcoting with great succoss, as
on Monday afternoon in about three
hours ho had sold something over $1000
worth of stock.
As it is a certified fact that oil was
discovered there 1n one well at the
depth of 1500 feet, we again publish the
allldavlts of some well-known citizens
to that effect.
AFFIDAVITS.
Mybti.e Chkkk, Ore., Feb. 7, 11103.
This Is to certify that I, G. W. Crews,
have visited the well drilling operations
of the Umpqua Valley Oil Co., at
Myrtle Creek, Oregon, a great number
of times.
My reasons for going frequently was
as a man in the mercantile business I
felt interested, and as soon as I knew
there was oil there I bought ten times
as much oil stock as I bought II ret to
assist the testing ot this oil basin. The
first oil I saw of my own knowledge
was when the well was roiorted to be
about 1200 feet. Then when at liiOO
feet the excitement run high among
the people here and I saw the crude
oil over the Held in small runs or
streams between the oil well and creek
slough. From porsonal observations
my judgment loads me to believe that
a great many -barrels of oil have boen
pumped from this well between 1200
feet depth and the suspension of opera
tions. G. W. Ckbws.
Subscribed and sworn t i before me
this 7lh day of February, 11103.

This is to certify that I, W. P. Willis,
of Myrtle Creek, Douglas county, Oro-
gon, have passed tho oil well at Myrtle
Creek, Oregon, and owned by the Ump

from my wagon all the way from the
well to the slough, and covering the
flat, and in my judgment there was sev
eral barrels of same.
