be remembered by many of the older
residents of Roseburg. In tne eariy

city called The Ensign, at the place
now occupied by the 1'lalncieaier, to
whteh name the nanor was changed af
ter Mr. Webster sold out to E. G. Hursh,
now a resident of San Francisco. Alter
disposing of The Ensign, Mr. Webster
moved to Marshlleld and took up the
practice of law. Later he tormea a
partnership with his cousin, A. M.
Crawford, now attorney general of Ore
gon. Mr. Webster served one term in
ii,A nmu-nn lei-islature as joint repre
sentative of Coos and Douglas counties.
A number of years ago itir. vteosier
movod with hiB family to California and
sottlod near Taso Robles. Of late he
had been In poor health, which gradual
ly brought on his demise.

is survived by a widow, two sons and
two daughters.
