Fred Byron, formerly a resident of Olalla, arrived home this morning from Washington, D, C, where he has been studying for a branch of the U. S. army. Mr. Byron looks fine in the olive drab and likes army life. He will Bpend a short time vis iting here with his friends nnd rela tives. Will Soon Embark for Franco. Information received here today from Bert Frltch, formerly of this city, Is to the effect that he will shortly embark for active service in France. Since leaving Roseburg he hnB been stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, and has been assign ed to the truck repair department there. His work overseas will prob ably be that of a truck driver. In City to Attend Conference. Rev. H. J. Van FosBen, of Ashland district superintendent of the Klam ath Fulls district of the M. E. church, is In the city today to at tend the last qunrterly conference of the local church which will be held this evening. It Is the unanlmou wish of the members of the M. E. church in tills city that their pres ent pastor. Rev. J. C. Spencer, be re turned here, his services having uecn so deeply appreciated by the entire congregation. Mr. Dosser's Pumpkins. H. A.
