S. marine recruiting sergeant at the lo cal recruiting station to Warren Tre- mont Long, of this city, when he at tempted to enlist In the marine corps. Lenvltt, In charge of the marine recruiting offices at the Perkins building in this city has received notice of the following tele gram which hua been sent out by the marine recruiting headquarters at Washington, D". C: 'All payments to postmasters for securing recruits ..repealed by act of congress, uly 2, 1918." Formerly postmasters have been paid for their services in securing re cruits In different branches of the army and navy where there were no recruiting officers for these branches of the service, but in the future such work will be dono purely from a pat riotic standpoint. It is reported that some postmasters in Oregon have turned over all fees for recruiting to fhe Red Cross. RE-CIASfelPIKD MEN EXAMINED. The examination of re-classlfled draft registrants was completed to day. Approximately 60 men advanc ed from classes two and three to class one, under the re-classification order, have been examined.
