However, his conditoln is worse than was first pronounced nnd he will be forced to reBt for a year before en tering the service again. Fred Mil ler, before his enlistment In the French array was a clerk in the 1'mpqua hotel, and has a host of friends here who will be glad to wel come him home again. STAMP SALES MUST According to Information furnish ed by Judge I. B. Riddle, general county chairman of the war savings campaign for this district, the thrift mild day by day materially increases. To date Douglas county is credited with $3!i,u20.1D total sales, since the campaign started, representing an average of approximately $1000 a day for the past thirty three days. Only three hundred days remain bowevor, in which time we must fur nish our alloted quota of $440,000 and it does not require any great mental effort to compile the fact that the sales throughout tlilB com munity will have to take on a new Impetus nnd average about $1,300 each day, otherwise we will fall ma terially short of our quota at the close of the campaign. The county committeemen are planing to co operate, unify, synthetlze and pull together, that the heretofore depend able county of Douglas bats out her thrift per centage, thereby taking a Arm holdt on ftrBt place in Ore gon s patriotic league.
