Ivan Harris was on the sick list one day last week. Everett Wright had the bad luck to sprain his ankle slightly one day this week. Messrs. Tom Taylor, Ernest and Arthur Woolley returned home Wed nesday from Isadora where they have been engaged In cutting railroad ties. Frances Gunter was on Roseburg the first of the week. Fredi Harris went to Roseburg one day last week where he has entered high school. Tom Taylor and Ernest Woolley expect to leave some .day this week for Portland where they will work the balance of the winter. One of the two colts belonging to Mr. Wright which have been missing for some time past, has been found drowned in the South Fork of Smith river. The bank, caved off with it and as the river was high at the time the colt could not get out. The other colt has not yet been found and it is feared it, too, has met with some accident. X f . There will be a card party at the Catholic church parish house tomor row evening to which all who wish to participate are Invited to attend. The ladies having the affair in charge have planned the entertainment with a desire of having all assured of a cordial, welcome and pleasant time. Relief Society Luncheon. The ladies. of the French-Belgian Babies Relief Association, of Rose burg have arranged to give a lunch eon at 234 North Jackson street next Friday beglnnig at 12 o'clock noon, for the benefit of the needy children of those countries. Lunch will be served during the afternoon, and the society hopes for liberal patronage. Washington-Lincoln Memorial. The G. A. R. and W. R, C. will con duct a service at the armory next Friday afternoon at two o'clock in honor of Washington and Lincoln. Hon. Binger Hermann and Rev. J. C. Spencer will address the assemblage, and an appropriate musical program will be rendered. The public is cor dially invited to attend this, memor ial service. :; A Enjoyable Card Party. A most happy time spent was a party given by Mr, and Mrs. R. Taylor on Thursday evening. Five hundred was indulged in a part of the evening. A. C' Cook won first .'prize and the consolation fell to Mrs. G. O. Shadduck. Then comical games were played until a late hoii which kept every one amused. In recent photoplay, in which he essay ed the male lead, Stowell was called on to t'aice the part of a disinherited son of a millionaire who finally be comes so down and out that he has to ask for the price of a meal and pay for it with his own efforts at the piano in a dance hall. Hamilton opened court this morning for the purpose of cleaning up the court docket for the coming February term. Many at torneys were present, and the trial program was arranged. . While Judge Hamilton will hear motions and demurreds in various cases Wednesday, the regular term of court will not open with a jury until Monday, February 18. Tomorrow a non-judicial Say and therefore no cases will be disposed of at that time. Judge Hamilton, will leave Thurs day, February 14, for Cbrvallls where he will pass sentence in the Frazier forgery case.. The defendant felned suicide some time ago and was late discovered in- Los Angeles by one of the trial jurors, who was visiting at that place. Frazier was re-arrested and now languishes in the. Corvallis jail awaiting sentence. ' The February grand jury will be called together'- next Thursday at which time they will act on several cases now awaiting" disposition and take up other niatters which will be brought to' their attention from time to time.
