Miss Mabel Van Buren, a prom inent music teacher of this city who has been spending the holidays in San Francisco, arrived home last ev ening and reports a most charming time. Miss Van Buren will resume her music classes at once. Files Suit in Justice Court. W. J. Patterson, who conducts the Patterson grocery situated on Cass street has filed suit in the justice court through his attorney John T. Long, wherein he seeks to recover the sum of $30.95 alleged to be due on a bill of merchandise purchased by Henry Miller,- who is named as defendant. A writ of attachment was issued by Judge Riddle late this afternoon. Broadways to Arrive Soon. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Broadway, of Portland, will arrive soon and will spend a few days here visiting with friends and relatives. On New Years eve a surprise party was given to Margaret Lane by the ladies society of the B. of L. F. & E. and several friends. Cards and games were played, and the first prize waa won Iby F. L. Johnson, and the consolation fell to Mrs. Clarence Hess. A weinie supper was served the jolly good time continuing long after the whistles blew at midnight, and everyone wished every one else a happy New Year, declaring they had enjoyed a delightful evening.
