Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Savage arrived
in Roseburg yesterday from Baker to
spend the Christmas holidays in this
city. Mrs. Savage was formerly Miss'
Lucy Bridges and was very popular
in society circles in this city.
Master George Kinney, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Ed. Kinney, well known
residents of this city, leu this morn
ing for Albany to visit during the
holidays with his aunt, Mrs. Mary
Vnndran.
Colonel Ardendall, a Juvenile of
ficer of Eugene, arrived here yester
day to take charge of the young man
from that city who was arrested here
the previous night. The officer, ac
companied by his prisoner returned

the popular actar-author-prod'ueer of
both theatrical and film worlds, will
appear in his second photoplay ior
Artcraft Pictures, "Seven Keys to
Baldpato." One of Mr. Cohan's great
est Broadway sensations, this play
adapted from the book of the same
name by Earl ,Derr Biggers, scored
an emphatic hit all over the country
several years ago. As a motion plc
ture vehicle for the Inimitable come
dian, It offers an admirable subject in
whlcih to present to good advantage
his famous mannerisms and at the
same time, discloses particular adapt
abilities to motion picture presenta
tion. Announced as a "mystery farce,"
this picture Is confidently expected
to amaze and thrill to a much great
er extent than even the original play.
Several distinct twists to the story,
which tells of how an ambitious
author of hair-raising literature won
a wager to write a 10,000 word story
in twenty-four hours, are evinced
with startling result. Many humor
ous situations are presented in typ
ical Cohanesque style and a surpris
ing climax, such as has never before
been presented on the screen is sud
denly displayed with telling effect.
Staged under the direction of
Hugh Ford, whose many successes
under the Famous Players trade
mark have placed him among the
very foremost exponents of modern
filmcraft ,the story is given a much
greater scope on the screen than was
possible on the stage. An exceptional
supporting cast to the popular Broad
way star consists of various well
known film artists, as well as several
members of the original cast of the
play, including Anna Q. Nilsson.
