William Blakely, of this city, left
this morning for Sutherlin to grade
turkeys tor the People's Supply Co.
Russell Harness left this morning
for RidxJle where he will spend the
day looking after business matters.
T. J. Havens' returned to Green
yesterday after spending the day in
this city looking after business mat
ters. J fi y Bowman, an. S. P. brakeman,
has enlisted in the navy, and left on
train 53 today for a training station
in California. -
C. S. Ogg left Monday evening for
his home at Wilbur. While in this
city Mr. Ogg attended to business
matters.
County Agriculturist C. J. Hurd
left this morning for Eugene on a
business trip. Mr. Hurd expects to
remain at Eugene the remainder of
the week.

Roseburg last evening from Oak
land where she has been spending
several days visiting with relatives.
Miss Aielene Anderson this morn
ing underwent a throat operation at
Mercy hospital. Dr. A. C. Seely at
tending. Miss Anderson recently
caine to Roseburg from Houston,
Texas.
Anna Marie Chambers ana Beryle
Gannon, nurses who have been em
ployed at the Mercy hospital in this
city for the past few months, left
this morning for Portland to remain
permanently.
Mrs. H. C. Ketchem and children

where they will spend a number of
weeks visiting with relatives. They
will return to this city the latter
part of January.
Miss Miriam Caro, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Simon Caro, of this
city will arrived in Roseburg tomor

holidays in this citj'.
Charles Wilson, Francis Niday
and Jessie Wilson, of Garden Valley,
and Jay Bowman, of this city, pass

route from Portland to San Fran
cisco. The young men are enlisted
in the navy.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas, Green, of Mel
rose, were visiting in the city today.
Mr. Green, who is a civil war vet
eran, will take up his abode at the
soldiers:' home, where he expects to
remain for the greater part of the
winter, while the aged lady return
ed to the farm home.

The annual meeting of the Doug
las County Taxpayers' League will
be held at 10 a. m. Thursday, De
cember 20, at the Douglas county
court house. This date is set by the
county court to discuss the budget of
