have taken Jerusalem. For two weeks

delegate to the representative coun
cil of -he state teachers' association,
which is to convene at Portland De

from all over the state

of the Sutherlin schools, and. Mabel
Wilson, a teacher in the local high
school, will go as delegates from

Any teachers organization that
has l r members or more holding at
least three meetings a year is entitl
ed to a delegate. The School MIs
1 1 ess' club, which is to meet here
next Saturday will in all probability
elect a representative to this council
and local school instructors, as has
been the custom in past years, will

special school work, and no doubt
they too will send a delegate.

ness and social meeting. Heretofore,
the many teachers went to the con
vent ion in a hotly, and each had a
say in formulating future plans. This

state and a great deal of interest
was manifested throughout especial
ly along the productive plant line."
The society appointed a cominittet
which will act as a publicity bureau
to keep in touch with the people and
the needs of the community and in
crease the horticultural production
of the state. A committee as also
appointed to attend tho next legis
lature to try and obtain an appropri
ation to continue the fruit inspection
work or Oregon, Oregon Is divided
into live sections and commissioners
are appointed for each section. The
funds for this work were not appoint
ed ut the last legislature and au earn
est effort will bo made at the com
ing legislature to obtain the funds
so that this most necessary work will
bo continued:

ity meeting Saturday evening at the
Evergreen hall. A great many mat
ters were discussed and an effort will
be made by several of the members

the soil so that clover and other
leguminous crops can bo grown. Mr.
McAllister spoke on the swine and
stock breeders association and) neces
sity of huving one In a community
of this size. "More Interest is now
being shown In the northwest about

Mr. McAllister, "and I am convinc
ed that the livestock Industry of Ore
gon will develop to tho very utmost
and become one of Its most import
ant factors.
