In looking through the book it ia seen thai horse racing has bcVn eliminated. Indeed, the beautiful standard bred, the horse which has furnished so much pleasure to fair-goers all the years past, is not mentioned in the premium list, so it may be inferred that if any of this breed, are still left tn Douglas county they will not be in evidence at the fair this year. Draft horses and coachers are listed. Percherons, Llelgians, Cyldea and Shires are offered good premiums. Teams, including carriage horses. are listed for premiums, and this probably includes standard breds. All the popular breeds of cattle are listed for awards. The premium list also covers a wide range of agricul tural products. Industries of all kinds are invited to participate in the exhibition, and. fine arts and needle work, home economics and all work of the home is encouraged to offer exhibits. The fair promises to be an interesting event, and deserves the support of the entire county. Copies of the premium list are ready for distribu tion, and can be had at this office. Expectant exhibitors will do well to secure a copy and prepare their showings according to the regula tions of the association, and by be ing promptly on hand help to make the event a 'success. CITY NEWS 0 SIOE TRACKED HERE Uingllng Brothers circus, one of -the largest shows under canvas this season, which gave two performances recently in Portland, arrived here this morning and spent some time in the local yards feeding and watering stock. They have 735 horses, and 1008 -wild animals, and also 1370 men and women are employed, re quiring 90 cooks and waiters to satis fy the multitude of appetites. They maintain a secret service department, Red Cross department, two p.isic ians, three nurses, three veterinary surgeons and 23 advance agents. The circus has its- own attorney, p .st master, postotilee and mail delivery and also a weather forecaster. This is their first visit to the coast tn several years.
