A. S. HUEY BACK FROM TRIP Attended Congress of tlio American Optical Society at Frovideuce. After an absence of over a month, A. S. Huey of the Huey Jewelry Co., returned from his trip through the east. While in the eastern states he vis ited many of the chief cities and fac tories along his way, going as far as Boston. His chief objective point was Providence, Rhode Island, where he attended the annual congress of the American Optical Society, he be ing a member of that organization. He reports thut business in all lines throughout the east is unusu-j ally active, many big factories be ing hampered by not being able to secure sufficient help. Ho experi enced a great deal of hot weather and is glad to get back to Douglas county where the nights at least arc cool. During his stay in New York City he witnessed the munition ex plosion which caused such a havoc in the nation's metropolis. The fire was start ed by sparks from the engine of freight train No. 222, which passed through Winchester late in the after noon and spread rapidly :in spite of the opposition made by the fire fighters who gathered quickjy.
