THE CASH STORE M E SAVE YOU MONEY 1 CASS 8TKKBT "Pudd'nhoad Wilson," one of Mark Twain's immortal stories, will be presented in .hotodramatic form by the Jesse L. I.asky feature play company at the Antlers today and tomorrow, with the distinguished art ist, Theodore Roberts, in the title roie. It Is a Paramount picture. The story has to do with Lawyer Wilson, a young man, who has come lo a small Missouri town to prac tice. On his first day In the little village he makes the famous remark that if he owned one-half of a dog he would kill his half. The natives could not grasp the humor of this and decided that the young lawyer was not right and this, coupled with his essentrlclties of speech and his hobby for securing thumb prints from everyone with whom he camo in contact, Induced one of the town wits to call him "Pudd'nhead," a nick name that remained with him throughout his life. With his small glass slips, he se cures, among others, the finger I prints of Tom Driscoll, age six I months, and at the same time, the prints of Chambers, six and one-half I months old baby of Roxy, a mulatto slave owned by the Driscoll family. These babies have the same father and look much alike. Roxy changes the babies and passes off her child as the heir of the Driscoll's and makes the real heir the slave. Twenty years later, the false Tom Driscoll returns from col lege, sells his real mother as a slave and in a fit of tomper, murders his wealthy uncle. Tom, jealous of the interest the beautiful Rowena Coop er takes In Chambers, tries to fix the crime on hlin. Chambers is about t0 be lynched by the indignant whites when "Pudd'nhead" announces that lie is the slave's attorney and InHists upon a trial, 'investigating the finger-prints left upon the dagger lhat was used in the murder. Wilson traces the marka and at tho trial forces Rosy, the slave, lo confess that she changed the babies In their cradles. The real Tom is acquitted and goes to Rowena, while the real negro is taken to jail. In the cast supporting Mr. Rob erts are such distinguished artists as Thomas Meighan, Florence Dagmar, Allan Hale, Gertrude Kcllnr, Ernest Joy and other members of the I.asky nll-slar organization. MAVP.E THIS STORY IS AN AWFUL LIE MAYIIE NOT CLEVELAND, July "13. If it's blazing hot In your town today this story is an awful lie. llut if the weather is cool, it isn't. F. L. Odenbach, St. Ignatius col lege scientist, declared today that we're not going to have any summer this year. He blames it all on 25 spots he has just discovered on the sun. "It's the most spots I have ever seen on the sun at one time," said the professor. "It indicates abnorm al weather conditions and probably means an extremely cool summer. "The sun spots don't directly con trol the weather conditions, but their influence is electric and magnetic on the ntmosphere and this influence, combined with local weather factors, determines the weather. This year is the 100th anniversary of the coun try's famous summorless year of 1816. In that year there were kill ing frostg each month and corn for seed sold for $7 a bushel. That ' would mean about $28 a bushel this year, by comparison. "None of the sun spots are visiblr to the naked eye, yet they can be photographed. One of these bigger ones has a diameter of about 1,000 miles and covers the whole easterc and central portion of the United States. The spots aro eruptions on the sun's surface, are gaseous and probably flare out from the sun a hundred or two thousand milcj." Dole's Cafeteria and Delicatessen THE ONLY KIIIHT CLASS PL A IF.
