This play deals with the life of the Canac around Quebec In the day of the Old Dominion, and Is full of situa tions both dramatic and comic. The play is particularly adapted for the Chautauqua stage since it is easy of presentation, the Betting being quite as simple and quaint as the life that the play portrays. The play is stroug in moral tone and brings out the ability of the Conius Players to the fullest extent. Archibald Reddie, the leading man plays an exceptionally, brilliant part as the woodsman. Prof Heddie is dean of the Dramatic School at the University of Oregon where he. has built up the best and finest equipped dramatic school on the Pacific coast. Miss Janet Young, cast as the daughter of the woods man, is also a graduate of the dra matic school at the state university, and since her graduation has been playing in numerous productions which hnvc toured the United States. The other members of the cast are equally well known to the followers of the footlights. n The Comus Players will be follow ed In quic1. succession by a long list of entertainers and lecturers. This year's program shows a larger and belter program than has ever been presented In 'this city before, and large crowds and abundant en thusiasm will greet each perform ance. Despite predigcous efforts on the part of the physicians of this city and Brooklyn to curb the spread of infantile paraly sis which has raged for the past week, the deaths and news cases showed an Increase of one hundred per cent In Brooklyn alone since yes terday. The total deaths in the two cities number 270, of which 32 were reported today. Twenty of the 32 were In Brooklyn and only 9 died yesterday.
