After having been a source of wor
ry to the city council for several
months the Urge oak tree in Miller
street was removed Saturday. The
tree leaned directly towards the
house occupied by Mr. Hosmer and
It was feared that it would fall on
the house. Members of the street
department a short timefcigo endeav
ored to cut it down but when they
had cut through the outer bark they
found it was partially hollow, and
were afraid to proceed. Saturday
John Cilkeson fastened several
ropes to the upper branches and with
the aid of several men succeeded In
falling it Into the middle of tbe
itreet. It will probably furnish sev
eral tier of wood.
