family, as members of the auto part
on the way to Tiller, had reached a
point near the summit of the moon
tain when he stopped for a short
time to allow the engine to cool.
Mrs. Wayland and the children
demounted from the auto while It
wan standing and had not yet taken
their places . when Mr. Wayland
started to crank up the machine.
No blocks had been put under the
rear wheels and the vibration ol
tho engine started it down the hill.
Before lt could be stopped H had
rolled over tho bank and landed
against a large treo about twenty
feet below the road. A passing auto
?t assisted In the pulling of the ma
chine back to the road and It was
brought to this city for repairs.
The top and windshield of the car
were' utterly demolished, while the
fenders were badly "bent and twisted
