April 30, was recovered yesterday
by fishermen.
Whallon, who was a son of C. V.
Whallou, of N'umpa, Idaho, lost his
lire when a canoe in which he was
riding with companions capsized.
Tho three other members of the
party escaped with their lives after
floating down stream for more than
a mile.
For days the University of Oregon
students patrolled the banks of the
river in a vain search to find the
body. Dynamiting was resorted to
In an effort to bring it to the sur
face. A reward of $25 also was of
fered for its recovery.
Coroner Veatch Is holding the
body awaiting directions from the
boy's father.

city this morning Walter Rime, who
left here a few days ago to accept

Francisco is in the midst of a heat

of them have been forced to quit,
because of the fact that the labor

SALEM, May IS. Phillip Reese,
a well to do farmer residing five
miles Bouth of Saiem on the Jeffer
son road, killed himself today by
cutting his throat with a razor. Reese
was 7C years old and his act is
beiieved to have been due to des
pondency, because of ill health. .
Last January Reese was kicked by
a horso, sustaining a broken arm.
Ho killed hihiself on the porch of
his home where he was found by
members of the family. A widow,
two step-daughters and a son sur
vive him. The son resides in Cali
fornia and the others on the farm
near Salem.

mobiles. She said Bhe adopted the
boy In Jefferson county, Kentucky.
