cial straits. He is informed by his
creditors that the potteries must bo
closed. The closing down of the
works will mean the utter ruin of
the town, and work people almost

er's plight. Among Chandler'j em
ployes Is Cyrus Blenkarn, who dis
covers a new glaze that is translu
cent. Reallzlnlng that his discovery
will revolutionize the Industry, he

ors, quick to see the passibllitles of
the discovery, grant Chandler unlim
ited credit. Chandler .lias no
scruples in taking all the benefit of
Blenkarn's discovery and soon be
comes rich. Sir Seaton Umfraville,
with his daughter, Felicia, makes
Chandler's acquaintance and a union
between Julian Chandler and Felice

Mary Blenkarn, and in spite of op

about to leave for Africa, can con
ceal her guilt no longer and leaves,
