MARSIIKIELD, Ore., Oct. 9. The
hearing of Attorney O. D. Graves,
whom Governor West would dlstar
from practicing law in Oregon, for
the part the former is alleged tn
have played in the recent deporta
tion of Dr. Leach, is progressing here
today.
From what can be gathered, Mr.
McLaughlin, who furnished the af
fidavit on which the prosecution was
based, has admitted that the con
tents of his charge was wholly
hearsay. In fact, Mr. McLaughlin
has even gone further in admitting

G. P. Schlosser, advertising man
ager of the Hoseburg Commercial
Club, has been appointed a com
missioner for the state of Oregon to
represent the state at the United
States land show to be held In Chi
cago November 20 to December 8,
the appointment being made by Gov
ernor Oswald West.
Mr. Srhlnsser has also been ap
pointed delegate by the Oregon De
velopment League, on account of his
familiarity with the resources and
conditions in Oregon as" compared
with the Mississippi Valley, where
he formerly lived.
