patcher, and Harry Pearce, the har

men have been practicing of late, and

Lincoln Wright, nn employe of the
local gas company, was quite seri
ously burned about arms and neck
this morning while making a gas
connection in the residence recentl)
purchased by Mr. Harvey, of the
Ilurvey-ICastman Grocery Company,
and situated on Moore street. From
what car. lie learned regarding the
affair Mr. Wright had opened the
gas jet preparatory to making a
connection when the. gas Ignited
from a lighted candle which was
stationed nearby, llefore" hecoui5
get away the flames came In contact
with his arms and neck with the
result that he was badly burned. Al
though no damage resulted, the
flames spread to the woodwork in
the basement of the home and a
general fire alarm was sounded. The
fire laddies responded in haste, but
ii poii arriving at the scene found
that the fire had been extinguished.
It is not l'.k?ly tnat Mr. Wright will
be able to resume his duties for sev
eral days.
