ing for her home at Portland after
a visit with relatives in Ibis. city.

John White returned to Riddle
last evening after a day spent in
Itoseburg. Mr. White says the Rid
dle prune growers ni'e busily engag
ed In drying their product, and that
little damage resulted from the re
cent heavy rains. It. Is Mr. White's
prediction that the crop will be fully
as largo as in former years.
Mr. Starkson, formerly rook at
the Grand Grill, has leased the room
'ormerly occupied by A. D. Bradley,
the real estate agent, and situated In
the Ro?e building on Cass street. Mr.
Starkson will open a restaurant in
the room some time next, or at least
as soon as his fixtures arrive from
Port land. The room has been
thoroughly renovated and presents a
most inviting npponnmee.
William Sagaberd, of Scottsburg,
wag brought here this morning by
his daughter for medical treatment.
Miss Ellen Crab tree, of Roseburg,
is the guest of Mrs. C. H. Fisher.

Miss Laura Edgerton has been en
gaged to teac hschool near Sutherlin
during the coming winter and will
enter upon her duties on Monday.

his ranch near Oakland. He was
accompanied here by Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Schwartz who spent the past
week at Mr. Engle's ranch. Mr.
and Mrs. Schwartz leave here in a
few days for points in Wisconsin
where thev will spend some time
