TWO young people who enjoyed their Bummer vacation thoroughly are
Robert and Helen Tuft, son and dnughter of the president, who made
a tour through Glacier National park. Montana, with a party of friends
chaperoned by Mrs. George E. Vincent, wife of the president of the
University of Minnesota. One of tbe young women tourists was MIbs Isnbel
Vincent, who was a classmate of Miss Taft at Bryu Mawr. Miss Martha
Mowers, daughter of the late solicitor general of the United States, Lloyd W.
Powers, and hpr brother were also members of the party; which rodo through
the park ou pontes, visiting tbe United' States reclamation service camp and
bobuobbitig wltb the Indians, who are plcturesigue adjuncts of the place. The
upper of tbe two photographs shows Robert Tart greeting Chief Big Top; the
lower. Miss Taft mounted on her pony.

for Salem where he will attend the
State Fair.
Miss Larson went to Winchester
yesterday where she will spend a few
days visiting with friends.

Millie Agee, of Wlnstons, and Mrs,
Elijah Kurtz, of Salem, went to Wil
bur yesterday to spend a few days
visiting with relatives.
C. H. N. Gronvold, ot the McCIal
len hotel, returned here yesterday
morning after a few days Bpept at
Portland looking after business mat
ters. District Attorney George M. Brown
returned here late Saturday night
after spending two weeks In Curry
county attending the regular term of
the circuit court for that county. Out
of a total of five cases tried, Mr.
Drown was' successful in securing
five convictions.
