for a few weeks with the letter's son.

We are sorry to learn that Mrs.
Wertz is very 111 at her home In
South Drain. Her mother-in-law Is
coming to take care of her.
Fred Miller has gone over to
Scottsburg on his bicycle the first of
the week to visit with his sister, Mrs.
Klrtley. .
Will Truylor and family, of Smith
river, were out to Drain last week
visiting relatives and friends.
The little six-year-old son of Mr.
and Mrs. Joshlyn baa been very sick
for some time, and his father has
taken him to Portland. HIb mother
was to go up to stay with him.
Will Mattoon, who has been at
work at Scottsburg for some time
past, has just returned home Thurs
day. Henry Swearlnger received a se
vere kick on tho ribs last Thurs
day by a young colt, resulting In
two broken ribs.
Mrs. Lee Barker expects to go to
visit her daughter next Sunday, tak
ing with her her two youngest sons.
They expect to stay about two weeks
we are told. Her mother, Mrs. Ap
Ulcgate, jof Roseburg, came down
the first of the week and Is visiting
with her at present.
A party consisting of MeRsrs. Earl
Miller, Tom Keenen and Ted Davis
went over to upper Smith river Sat
urday to slaughter the fat bucks.
They expect to be gone several days.
