fuls of butter together and add to It
four ounces of grated cheese, and sen
son with a pinch of cayenne pepper.
Stand the saucepan In boiling water
and stir In the beaten yolk of an egg
nnd half a cupful of fine breadcrumbs.

Stewed Rhubarb With Lemon
Choose tender stalks of rhubarb,
trim and remove any tough portions nf

Dandelion Salad.
Rub a salad bowl with a cut pieoe
of garlic, then n leek cut Into thin
rings nnd season with salt, pepper and
a ditPh of mustard and mix with a ta
blospoonful of vinegar. Next blend
with olive oil. cut a hard cooked egg
Into rings nnd add to the dressing.
Put the dandelion leaves, previously
washed nnd drained, with the above
and toss together with fork nnd spoon.
It Is said that no other salad has more
medicinal value than this. It is a tine
tonic for the blood In the spring.

Twelve tender asparagus tips (can
ned may be used., one tirm tomato, one
pimento, one head of lettuce.
Tie asparagus In I-undies of three
nnd cook In boiling salted water until
tender, llemove the string nnd nr
nnik'e on crisp lettuce on Individual
plates. Cut the tomato Into four rings
and slip a bundle of the cooked aspara
gus through each ring, place on lettuce
nnd sprinkle bits finely ohopied pi
mento over the whole. Serve with
French dressing.

One pint milk, large; two eggs, one
cup of sugar, small; one tea spoon ful
vanilla, one half cup of butter, two
tnhlespoonfiils cornstarch. IHssolve the
cornstarch in a little of the milk; hent
the rest of the milk: when boiling add
the sugar, cornstarch nnd beaten eggs,
stirring briskly; add the butter, stir till
dissolved, flavor and spread on the
rnkes while hot. This can he used as a
pudding by pouring over each piece n
spoonful of the custard that is left.
Glazed Sweet Potatoes.
Four sweet potatoes, one quart boll
Ing water, one cupful sugar and a halt
cupful water will be needed for tht
recipe. Wash the sweet potatoes nnd
cook, ten minutes in boiling water

slices. Place In a buttered baking
dish, cover with sirup made by bolllnj:
