8. G. Cougar, of Myrtlo Creek,
Bpent yesterday in Roseburg visiting
with friend.

Frank Plummer, of Olalla, was a
business visitor in Roseburg for a
few hours yesterday.
Mrs. A. S. Buell, who has been
spending the past ten days visit
ing with friends at Dlllard, returned
home yesterday.
R. S. Barker, who has been spend
ing the past few days at his ranco,
on lwpr Creek, left for h-a home at
Medford yesterday.
Rev. W. H. Eaton, pastor of the
local Baptist church, delivered a very
Interesting sermon at the Melrose
church yesterday afternoon.
Alvin Tipton has been engaged to
leach in the Cooper district, about
three milca from Looking Glas, dur
ing the coming year. He will as
sume hlB duties next Monday.
The third monthly rally of the
Baptist church will be held Wed
nesday evening in the church base
ment. "Section D" will provide the
prayer meeting program and the feed
for the evening.

Oregon's famous mountain llllies
are now In bloom. Fifty children
yesterday gathered huge bunches of
the beautiful white flowers. "Bird
Bills" ar also out, awaiting the

County Judge Wonacott this morn
ing appointed K. A. Miller, adminis
trator, and A. J. Colv'Jj, B. J. Simp
son and H. R. Kaufiman. apprais
ers, of estate of the late Elnothan
R. Belt. The estate is valued at ap
proximately $500.
Accused of the crime of assault
and battery C. F. Gadke, a local
plumber, appeared In Justice of the
Peace Marstera' court late Saturday
afternoon, entered a plea of guilty,
and was fined in the sum of $15. The
charge against Gadke was preferred
by MrB. Lillie Hull, formerly a
waitress in the "Quick Lunch" res
taurant. Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Johnson, who
own a nice little farm near Green
Station left for Nebraska this morn
ing. During their absence the farm
hero will be looked after by Mr.
Atwater, their Bon-ln-law. The trip
East is made in the Interests of
property there, and before their re
turn to Oregon Mr. Johnson will en
deavor to dispose of his holdings
in Nebraska.
The Skelley Lumber Company,
who have ojerateJ-ln Douglas coun
ty for several yeftrs, this morning
teased their holdings, comprising a
saw mill, and about (55.000,000 feet
of timber, to J. R. Elliott, of Port
land. Mr. Elliott takes possession
of the holdings on April 1, and ex
pects to have the mill in operation
not later than May 1. It Is said
that Mr, Elliott is an experienced
lumberman, and that he will employ
a large force of men as soon as the
mill can be placed in readiness for
operation. The deal was consum
mated through the Skelly Lumber
Company's attorney, F. G. Mlcelli.

E. J. Dourte and wife, of Wins
tons, are In the city today. These
people are among those who won
prizes for excellence of their berry
display at the Strawberry Festival
last season. Mr. Dourte says all his
fruit is looking line and promises
an abundant yield.
The new addition to Roseburg,
formerly the Parrott farm Bouth east
of this city is showing signs of
settlment. One tent house Is now
built along the graded street that
follows almost due east from Main
street. The work. on the street has
been done during the Inst month.
