opinion expressed that depredations and other sheep
of this character had decreased dur-.

given tho work of the United States
bureau o animal industry in the sup
pression and eradication of sheep dis
eases. Tho authorities of Wyoming and
Montana were asked to raise the
iuarautine aguinst Oregon sheep for
tho reason that tho disease known as
"scahbles" had entirely disappeared
from tho flocks of this state. I
The practice bf the railroads In de
laying sheep transit was declared to
ho without Just cause and as fre
quently resulting In serious loss to
tho shipper. A demand was made for
lower freight rates on shipments of
wool to tho eastern market; and the
blato railroad commission wos com
mended for Its efforts to bring about
a gen oral readjustment of freight
rates
Attention was called to certain evils
existing In the administration of the
forest reserve relative to the grazing
of livestock thereon nnd tho govern
ment called upon to correct these
ovlls. Approval was given tho prin
ciple of forest prosovatlon by means
of forest reserves, the convention de
claring that it was not opposed to
forestry policy. Sheep growers In all
parts of the state were called upon to
wage vigorous warfare on coyotes
killing animals to
tho end that the slate may be freed
from these dehtructlve pests.
