Mrs. Mark Long returned last night from Gervaia, where she has been at tending the funeral of her iieice. . ' Ernest Drews will leave tonight for Colfax to lake a position as manager of the telephone office at that place. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hess, who have been to Portland for a shcrt visit, re turned to their home in Goldendale last evening. Mrs. Jewett of White Salmon, who has been visiting in this city for a short time, returned to her home this morning on the Dixon. The Misses Lytle, who for the past week have been guests 'of the Misses Patterson, returned to their home at Wasco last evening. Mrs. P. Cardwell and Mrs. A. J. Stout arrived in the ci:y from Goldendale yes terday, and left on the Dixon for Port land this morning. V. M. Bennett, of this city, left on the Dixon this morning tor Washuzal, from which place he will take a short trip into the mountains. E, Jacobsen went to Dufur on a busi ness trip yesterday, and while there spent au hour in trout flsbing. He brought back a nice lot of trout, the largest being about 'fourteen inches id length. Carl Peete, one of Sherman connty's prosperous tillers of the soil, was in the city today attending to business matters and shaking hands with all Dalles friends.
