About ten Yakima Indiana went to
Vancouver some time ago to settle come
matters concerning their fishing grounds
on tbe Washington side of the river.
While there the soldiers in the garrison
regarded them as curiosities, and treated
them with much courtesy. Each of the
red men received a snit or two of sol
diers old clothes, and the capers they
cut around town this morning was a
caution. At first they were taken for a
detachmeut of Indian police. However.
it soon leaked out as to tbe cause of
their appearing in such costumes. All
but one are tbe happiest men in town,
and tbe unfortunate in George Joe.
When he sot off the boat last night be
was arrested by Sheriff Driver and Dep
uty Sheriff Vonng of Walla Walla. It
seems he is wanted for some charge at
that place, and will be taken there as
soon as tbe necessary : papers arrive.
We could not learn what the charge
against him is.
