THK DALLIS,
OAKGON
PERSONAL MENTION
'' Dr. Morgan came np from Hood River
this morning, returning thia afternoon.
A. K. Fuller and' WW Tate 6f Sher
man county were in the city today doing
some land business.
' Mr. C. M. Stranahan of Hood River
was in the city today, making final proof
on a timber culture in Sherman county.
Mr. N. P. O'Brien of Dnfar made ns a
brief call today. He reports the mer
cury aa touching 10 below zero yesterday
and 12 below this morning.
Mrs. Jones and daughter of Prineville,
who have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. J.
F. Moore for the past week, were pas
sengers on the afternoon train, bound
for the Willamette valley.
Mr: Wm. Hennchs, county clerk of
Sherman county, is in the city.
Mr. B. F. Medler and eon, Ernest
and Henry, were in from -Wasco today
making final cash entry proofs.
Mr. W. C . Allaway. ' is down at the
scene of the wreck of the Dalles City,
seeing what can be cjawe towards raising
her.
Mrs. S. L. Young and son, Marshal,
arrived home last night. Mrs. Young
has been to Oregon City attending the
funeral of her brother.
Hon. A. A. Jayne is in the city.
Mr. Ed. Wingate arrived home from
Portland last night.
Mrs. P. M. Dekum, who has been
visiting Mrs. Lord here, returned to
Portland Sunday. "
Conductor Fowler is in the city.
His train, the west-bound, being held
here until the road is open.
Robert Williams was in from' bis
ranch yesterday, and says the ride bad
none of the features of a pleasure trip.
. E. Jacobsen arrived home from Hepp
her last night, and has all the outdoor
exercise he needs, at least until the
weather changes.
The Spanish Students.
The Spanish Students have been here
: and are gone, leaving only pleasant' re
: collections to those who had the pleas-
are of listening to them. Mr. Webber
is certaiulyentitled to the thanks of all
our music lovers for having brouvbt the
1 company here. The house was decided
ly a poor one, due to two or three things,
one of which was the cold. and disagree
' able weather, the other the fact that the
audience was disappointed Friday even
ing by the non-arrival of the company
and many of them doubted the curtain
going np Saturday evening as the
company had not arrived here at 7
o'clock, and they did not care to face the
cold a second time with a chance of be
ing disappointed. It would be difficult
' to. aay anything of the individual artists,
that wonid not apply with equal force to
each of the others. The Spanish Stu
dents responded to hearty encores to
every selection rendered by them. The
Cello solo by Senor F. Brocamonte,
and the bandurria solo by Rebagliati
were each simply perfect, and little Ad
die Favart won a storm of applause. It
was without a doubt the most meritor
ious musical entertainment The Dalles
has been favored with in many a year,
and Mr. Webber would do welt to bring
the company here again in the near fut
ore, for the honse would be filled.
Stands at the Head.
Aug. J. Bogel, the leading druggist of
Shreveport, La., says: "Dr. King's
New Discovery is the only thing that
cores my cough, and it is the best seller
I have." J. F. Campbell, merchant of
Safford, Ariz., writes : "Dr. King's New
Discovery is all that is claimed for it ; it
never fails, and is a sure cure for Con
sumption, Coughs, and Colds. I cannot
say enough for its merits." Dr. King's
New , Discovery for . Consumption,

Or. J. C. Lannerberg, Eye Specialist,
Graduate of Bpeucer Opthalmlo Col
lege, New York City.
People having weak eyesight should
not miss-this opportunity to have their
eyes properly examined and fitted. The
doctor has instruments with which he
can examine every part of the interior
ot the eyes, and tell in an instant
whether he can benefit you or not.
Many children complain of pain in the
eyes and feel unable to keep up with
their classmates in (Bcbool. They un
doubtedly have trouble with their vision,
which if corrected will benefit them for
life. Cross eyej can be straightened
with proper glasses. . -
Heppneb, Or., Nov. 23, 1896.
To whom it may concern . Dr. .1. C.
Lannerberg, the leading eye specialist of
the Pacific, has been in Heppner for sev
eral weeks past sad has successfully
treated many, among them my daughter
and myself. Indeed he has been most
successful in every case, and of course
has the confidence of all physicians who
have the pains to examine into his work,
as well a9 the general pnblic. : I have no
hesitancy in recommending him to all
needing his services.
' Otis Patterson,
Editor Heppuer Gazette.
Heppneb, Or., Nov. 17, 1896,
This is to certify that Dr. J. C. Lan
nerberg, who" has been in our midst a
few weeks as an optician and oculist, has
done the most satisfactory, work on fbe
eyes of many of our leading citizens, and
that the glasses he fitted mebnt with' (a
Brazilian crystal) is the- most complete,
having an accomodating power that is
wonderful as compared to the ordinary
glass. . I can most cordially recommend
his work. Very truly,
Dr. E. K. Swinburne.
' Heppneb, Or., Nov. 17, 1896.
To whom it may concern : Dr. J. C.
Lannerherir, the eye specialist, attended
to my wife's eyes about three years ago,
she at that time suffering with a great
deal of headache and nervousness. After
wearing glaeses prescribed by the doctor
the pain left her and she has felt mnch
relieved. During his stay here the doc
tor has again treated her eyes and the
result is the most satisfactory we could
possibly hope. lean most heartily re
commend Dr. Lannerberg to those who
suffer .with ere trouble as a mau that
fully understands his profession.
R. C. Wills;
Heppneb. Or., Nov. 17, 1896.
lean heartily recommend Dr. J. C.
Lannerberg, the optician and occulist, to
the public. The woik done for my fam
ily in of superior order and gives most
complete satisfaction. It is not often
that a soecialist of the doctors ability
visits oar town and those suffering with
weak eyes should not mips this oppor
tunity." D. J. McFaul, M. D.
Heppneb, Or., Nov. 17, 1896.
To whom it may concern: Dr. J. C.
Lannerhnrg, the eye specialist, has fitted
me with a pair of glasses that give ino
