the city. Formerly Mr. Luckey occupied
the position of Indian Agent at the
Warm Springs Reservation.
Professor and Mrs. Lloyd of Forest
Grove, who spent the holiday week in
The Dalles with Rev. and Mrs. W. C.
Cortis, left for Portland where Mr.
Lloyd will deliver a lecture. They will
return to Forest Grove for the re-opening
of school.

Mr. Hngh Glenn left this afternoon
for a business trip to the metropolis.
Mr. T. H. Johnston, Dnfur's well
known merchant, is in the city today.
Mrs. W. J. Baker of Hood River is
visiting Mrs. J. H. Cradlebaugh in The
Dalles.
Mr. D. W. Scott, a resident of Bickle
ton, Klickitat county, was in The Dalles
this morning.
Mr. Ahio Watt of the O. R. & N. legal
department is in the city -on business

this morning from Heppner and Waits
borg, where they visited their children.
Mr. J. W. McGowan of Portland, who
bas extensive fishing and cannery in
terests on the Columbia river, is in The
Dalles today. '
Mr. D- R. Davis, sunerlntendent of
construction of the Western Union, with
headquarters at San Francisco, came op
on the local train7 from Portland this
morning returning in the afternoon.
Ex-Gov. Moody was in town Friday of
last week. He believes that prospects
are brighter than they have been for sev
eral years. The governor was one of the
very" first business men of Eastern

house today and ascertained the number
