THE DALLES WEEKLY CHRONICLE, WEDNESDAY- SEPTEMBER 4, 1895.
GOLDEN
I MEDICAL
DISCOVERY
Many years ago Dr. R. V. Pierce, chief
: consulting physician to the Invalids' Hotel
and Surgical Institute, Buffalo, N. Y., com
pounded this medicine of vegetable ingredi
ents which had an especial effect upon the
stomach and liver, rousing the organs to
healthful activity as well as purifying and
. enriching the blood. By such means the
stomach and the nerves are supplied with
pure blood; they will not do duty without it
any more than a locomotive can run with
out coal. You can not get a lasting cure of
Dyspepsia, or Indigestion, by taking arti
ficially digested foods or pepsin the stom
ach must do its own work in its own way.'
Do not put your nerves to sleep with so
called celery mixtures, it is better to go to
the seat of the difficulty and feed the nerve
. cells on the food they require. Dyspepsia,
Indigestion, Biliousness and Nervous Af
fections, such as sleeplessness and weak,
nervous feelings are completely cured by
the " Discovery." It puts on healthy flesh,
brings refreshing sleep and invigorates the
whole system.
Mr. K. Henkk. of No. S96 North Hautea .v.,
Chicago. III., writes: "I regard my improve
ment as simply
wonderful. Since
taking Dr. Pierce's
Golden Medical Dis
covery in connection
.with his 'Pleasant
Pellets ' I have Brain
ed in every respect,
particularly in flesh
and strength. My
liver was dreadfully
' enlarged and 1 suf
fered greatly from
dyspepsia. No phy-
- sician could give
relief.
Now, after two
months I am entire-
ly relieved of my
disease. My appe
tite is excellent !
food well digested; bowels regular and sleep
mucn unproveu."

Pendleton has a bicycle club, which is
actively supported by a large number of
"wheelers." It has a permanent organ
ization, by-laws and rules, which all the
members ' are called upon to obey.
Great interest is taken in the club by
lovers of this kind of sport, and the or
ganization has done a great deal of good
in agitating the question of good roads
and providing means of many pleasant
recreations for its members. The
Dalles has a great many riders, as large
a number in proportion to its size as any
other place, and yet it lacks a bicycle
club. . 'Such an organization could easily
be maintained, and would prove a source
of much pleasure and profit to its mem
bers.s Such a club should have been
started earlier in the season; it is not
now too late for such an organization to
be formed.

Is It Suicide?
A man named White, living up Mill
creek, came to town Saturday and
handed to Policeman Connelly a note
which was found in a bottle floating
down the stream. The note lead :
To Friends in The Dalles: '
If von walk up the flame five or si:
miles you will find ray body hanging to
the end 01 a rope underneath the name,
J. A. KILKY.
The note was turned over to Coroner
Butts, but what investigation was bad
did not disclose anything of Mr. Riley.
The concensus of opinion is that Mr,
Riley is of a facetious turn of mind and
seeks a little fun at the genial coroner's
expense.
